TIL one reason for localised geographic reference systems (instead of global ones like WGS 84 aka 'GPS coords') is because of plate tectonics - they can ignore it because they move around with the plates.

@vees I guess it would be irritating to slowly lose possession of your house at the speed of your fingernails growing... although you'd gain your neighbours one at the same speed I suppose.

TIL those flickering LED tealights are often made with music chips from old greeting cards as the source of "randomness" https://www.instructables.com/Listen-to-a-led-tea-light/

I seem to have found a new technique - where the fluctuations of current over the crystal (set up as a diode) are isolated, massively amplified and used as crunchy percussion noises. Different minerals provide different crunchiness characteristics! This recording uses pyrite from Nangiles mine, in Gwennap, Cornwall - which is particularly decayed and dusty (partly altered to marcasite), and seems to make good noise bursts - controlled and mixed with a volca modular patch.https://soundcloud.com/cornish_semiconductor/dusty-nangiles-pyrite-beats

@foone the games company I worked for hired a compiler developer so we could understand how to work around codewarrior's problems
