Funny turn of events, as I was writing my next blog post on how I was planning to use OneDrive with Cryptomator (FOSS client-side encryption software), I ran into this issue:https://community.cryptomator.org/t/onedrive-ransomware-protection-kills-cryptomator-please-support/6174TLDR; Microsoft will flag your client-side encrypted files as a false positive for ransomware and ask you verify it. Although users suggest that Microsoft doesn't actually delete the files after you verify, I really don't want to risk it. I guess I'm not moving cloud services now (but I will revise my upcoming blog post to be cloud-service agnostic on how I use cryptomator)

Considering a framework laptop as my main computer. My thinkcentre works great but not being able to use it around the house is a bit annoying. I know there are cheaper / used options but I'd really like to support a company doing good things for right to repair. Any framework owners like to chime in on their experience so far? In particular, what have you NOT liked about it?Boosts welcome!

Ideapad Slim 7i Pro came in today! Initial impressions are really good right now. 14" 90 hz 3:2 1800p display is gorgeous. Blog post hopefully soon :)

Over the past few months, I've tried various iPads, but I've found myself always returning them; it just feels like a waste of money to effectively get an iPhone with a big screen. iPad users; what do you use it for? Do you think you could get away without one between an iPhone/Smart Phone and a computer?I suppose if I took notes (prefer paper or typing), played mobile games or drew (I don't), it would provide more value.

I did a PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics also at Mines, where I developed computational models of platelet aggregation using #python with #CFD and #MathematicalBiology models, graduating in December 2019. My day-to-day work involves supporting academic researchers on our High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, anywhere from scientific application builds, advanced job management workflows, and consultations to better utilize HPC resources. I'm also heavily involved with HPC Education and Outreach, trying to bring in new HPC researchers through teaching workshops and other on-campus efforts.For fun, I play #drums in a few bands, and generally interested in all things #technology, including #foss, #macOS, #web, #mechanicalkeyboards, #gaming and more.

Trying another gaming laptop since I returned the Acer Swift X; picked up a open box/"used" ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 with a RTX 3050 Ti, i7-11800H (8 cores, 16 threads), 16 GB RAM, 512 GB ssd. It was already $300 off due to being last gen, with another $196 off being open box.Initial impressions:* 16" 16:10 FHD screen is BRIGHT. Reviews say it's about 500 nits which is definitely noticeable/comparable to my iMac* Haven't tested any games yet* Has a thunderbolt port which helps future proof it a bit more* Tenkeyless laptop is so nice on a 15/16" laptop* About to continue playing Wolfenstein 2 so can't comment on the gaming performance yet

Just reserved these parts. Thankfully still have my EVGA Hadron Air case with a built-n PSU. Would have gone 12th gen if DDR5 and 12th gen motherboards weren't enormously overpriced.
