@alpsoy @zkat @matrix Its also worth considering that matrix metadata is not completely private. It was a while ago i checked but i remember usernames get exposed to central server and only way to increase privacy is to fully defederate. Plan your community there yes, plan your revolution there no.

@matrix @alpsoy @zkat matrix.org reply here is disconcerting. for anyone that reaches here and is concerned: the issue lies in matrix instance callbacks to matrixorg and vector.Im. the following may be slightly outdated but you can start there. look around for lockdown guides to find how to fix some privacy issues in default configuration https://github.com/libremonde-org/paper-research-privacy-matrix.org/blob/master/part1/README.md

@matrix @alpsoy @zkat for anyone that reaches here and is concerned: the issue lies in matrix instance callbacks to matrixorg and/or vector.Im. my understanding is more than 1 year old so check around for lockdown guides to find how to fix some privacy issues in default configuration.I find matrix denial of metadata issues to be strange because it's been debated widely.https://gitlab.com/prism-break/prism-break/-/issues/2176https://github.com/libremonde-org/paper-research-privacy-matrix.org/blob/master/part1/README.md
