       @kjr He's an interesting character, and frankly, a lot of BS and unfair attacks have been made about him over the years (and still are). But his inability to deal with the hate he's gotten from the left since he became wealthy and his Dunning-Kruger vulnerability havesent him down the right-wing conspiracy theory rabbit hole, bit by bit over the past several years. He still thinks he's out to save the world, but then again, so did the guy who went into that DC pizza restaurant with a gun.

       @ringo This is literally in contradiction with virtually every study on the subject, and basic common sense (only half the grid is fossil-fuel burning and power plants are much more efficient than small engines, all manufacturers have recycling partners and they contain no heavy metals anyway, unlike the lead-acid starter #batteries in ICEs), but by all means, spread misinformation here...And "crippled"? LOL. "Tell me you've never owned an #EV without saying you've never owned an EV."

       @PavelASamsonov @jon@social.lot23.com Adn as someone who can't watch it constantly, it really bugs me.Users should be able to pick their timeline.  To sort it by who you interact with most and/or to boost up those who post infrequently over those who are constantly posting.What *shouldn't* happen is *other* people's likes altering *your* feed.  And the fights they're involved in getting into your feed.  *That's* what makes Twitter toxic.

       It's not without issues, of course.  But it looks good enough that with sufficient generations and manual editing work (aka, what we've come to expect  ;)  ) you could achieve great results.My favourite detail: #StoryDiffusion was trained on 8x #NVidia A100 #GPU .#Sora by contrast?        It's not perfect - it misses things here and there, or identifies things wrong (probably fixed if closer up) - but it's surely good enough to be workable in areas of known hostile activity.  You can even filter down by subtypes, like "intact military vehicles" or "air defense systems" or whatnot.

       @nottrobin @futurebird Most of the útrásarvíkingar (banking magnates) got away scott-free; only those who pulled Enron-style fraud went to jail (just like happened to Enron execs). And their sentences and conditions were pathetically light, to the point that at one point one was photographed in a town near the jail buying ice cream (just walked out, then walked back).  They commonly transferred their assets to other people to avoid seizure and continued to enjoy them post-sentence.

       @nottrobin @futurebird The famous "bank going bust" case involved the Icesave accounts. The issue is that they weren't government-backed, ala FDIC; they were backed by a private fund, and that private fund went bankrupt.Backing accounts by a private fund probably shouldn't have been allowed, but it was by EU banking law, and we won the case rather than settling.  The key factor is, this is how they were set up *before* the crash, not something that was done post-facto.
