I have to admit: I am tired of fighting.I am tired of fighting for privacy.All the things i have to take care of to prevent people from controlling and breaking the web (not only looking at Google).I am tired of people spamming javascript-bloated bullshit into the web just to track me.I am tired of trying to educate people about their basic right to privacy.I am tired of hearing: "But i have nothing to hide..."How do people keep fighting while staying sane? #privacy #tired

@kev My main gripe with windows (besides its horrible privacy) is the lack of control i as the user have. On my linux machine i am in control. I control when my machine is doing updates, when it restarts, what DE/WM to use, what services are running. Can i control all that with Windows too? Mostly. But it is extremely hard to do so. In my opinion control over the system is much more aproachable on linux than on windows.

@kev And that's totally okay. The fact that i wouldn't touch Windows with a ten feet pole ;) does not mean that i can not see the benefit for other people using it. My main concern with other people using it is, that i hope that they made an educated decision and are not using it because they have no choice (either by unawareness or because someone choose it for them). But that is something to solve on a personal level.

@person Yeah I had a discussion with someone about the saying: "Do not play on patch day". That's a very user hostile Argument. Because it is/was used to condition the user to accept shitty software/updates. Because it shifts the blame from the company who is delivering shitty software to the user who is expecting the company to properly do their job.

@sotolf @hund People seem to have forgotten the principle of progressive enhancement. Build your website so simple that it works with a console based browser. Then ask yourself where you need to add Javascript in order to functionally enhance your website. But at the same time remember that your website should not break or display a white page if someone has blocked your sparsely added Javascript.Thanks for coming to my #webdev101 Ted Talk. :)
