@rolle tomorrow will be better, and the day after that will be even better. just hang in there.decades ago, when i was going through a very suicidal time in my life, a good friend suggested that I dig into "positive distraction." A task made up of hundreds of smaller tasks that continually draw your attention. Oddly enough, Minecraft filled that void for me.

@khird absolutely, I can't even imagine what this is gonna do to places like libraries, town halls, charities and so forth who use Twitter and Facebook as tools to communicate with their constituents. Sorta gives me an idea for a charity — a Mastodon instance with no sign up, dedicated to any 501.11C.

@khird yeah, but unfortunately a lot of libraries are skating on zero infrastructure, handling 10 things with the budget of one. I think it would be a boon to have someone knowledgeable out there webmastering for em. Like a ton of libraries use Gmail for their email because even $10/Mo for an email service is a big dent.

@khird no joke. I started the largest Bahá'í community on Discord, and administering that was a whole different ball of wax compared to administering a nerd forum. You have to have steely resolve because answering people's doubts every day just eats at ya.

Reddit feels like it has changed. Today I saw the phrase "forced diversity" upvoted to the top of a thread about DEI departments being gutted. Folks were in threads doing that nerd thing of responding to news events with simply, "good."Like, genuinely not fun anymore.
