As an admin, I follow #fediblock to help protect my community members.If you are clearly posting a fediblock request because someone hurt your fee fees, we can see that. Please stop doing that. I often hear a lot of people say things like racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc., will die out as the old-timers start passing away.They've been saying that for three generations now. We used to say it in the 80s and 90s. It's not true.All the hate, the bigotry... that's not just gonna go away.We must fight it. We must all be vigilant against it. My prediction is that big social, as people learn about things like the Fediverse and decentralized social networking, will eventually use their money to influence legislators to "ban" the services as they can't be moderated as a sole entity and, therefore, they are dangerous.Politicians, liking money and not knowing a fucking thing about tech, could pass laws making the software illegal, based on morality and ethical biases.Will that happen? Hopefully not, but never underestimate the greed.

If you think that's implausible, look at TikTok and the effort to get it banned from the U.S. because it's made by the Chinese and they collect the same exact kind of data our our social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, et al., collect. Essentially, they are using their money and influence to block off the market for a competitor that would eventually take them down.Don't think there isn't dark money funding this from the tech industry.

So, in case my contract wasn't renewed, I put in a lot of applications for other jobs I was more than qualified to do. They've been slowly sending me a trickle of thanks but no thanks emails.I really want to respond to them that's just fine because my contract got renewed, I got a better position with better pay, and they lost out on someone that can do most of their jobs standing on his head.But that would be petty. 🙂 Instead, I'm just sending replies that say, "Your loss." 🤣

Some of the best times in my life were watching those movies with my kids, and no one will take that from me. Just like watching Clint Eastwood movies was a thing I cherish from the days when my dad was alive. (I think Mr. Eastwood is also a giant waste of space.)Point is, focus the attention where it's deserved and stop trying to tell everyone how they should live. You'll get a lot farther that way.

I've come to the conclusion that the real "radicals" in the culture wars and political BS are the ones in the middle trying to find a common ground for everyone, as opposed to the "far right" and "far left" wingnuts that have shown up. The whole "if you're not with us, you're against us" is about as immature as you can get. Because all I see lately is the right spewing hate and the left spewing hate right back. Hate is hate, no middle ground there, and I, for one, will have no part of that.
