I love the titling on some 1960s journal articles that give no indication whatsoever of the contents. "Two Tantalizing Biographical Fragments of Historical Interest".

A personal narcissistic essay. written for nobody but myself and the unfortunates who stumble across it by mistake. On pain and subjectivity. https://eve.gd/2023/05/07/on-pain-and-subjectivity/

@TedUnderwood well - thank you! It was really just a compendium of things that have struck me while living through probably the most difficult period of my life so far. I thought it was probably quite self indulgent, but had a cathartic quality for me.

We've known that Covid massively increases diabetes risk for 1.5 years now. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-00912-yYet here's the BBC giving credence to the "maybe it was lockdowns" nonsense. Probably to help us sleep at night after infecting a whole generation.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-66054946

This ITV article is really bad. Doesn't ask WHY Thames Water has a "£14 billion mountain of debt". The answer is: because they borrowed money to pay shareholder dividends! See Guardian graph... https://www.itv.com/news/london/2023-07-12/water-bills-will-have-to-go-up-next-year-thames-water-boss-admits

A catastrophic decision for the most vulnerable, who rely on *population-wide* immunity, as they (we/me) can't produce a significant antibody response, even with targeted vaccines.

I didn't really enjoy _To Paradise_, but have some things to say about it. It's a strong libertarian dystopia, in which the biggest threat is the authoritarian state and disability comes from treatments, not illnesses. It measures up quite badly against the reality of Covid.

I learned recently that there's a "sport" called "power slap" where two competitors take it in turns to slap the other in the face until they pass out. Unbelievable.
