@ianbetteridge cryptocurrency fans see it as a means of escape, a way out of the drudgery and fear that most people's lives are. That's why they cling on so dearly, the hope of redemption.Reminds me of some of the Trotskyists and Marxists I used to hang out with at uni. Blind faith and a fear of questions. The grifters understand this. Michael Saylor's Twitter feed is just one long stream of meaningless inanities, which seem profound until you actually examine them.

@ianbetteridge Saylor has the Nostradamus grift down perfectly. Use mysterious aphorisms which mean nothing but allow the reader to find what they want to see.

@Krisss Song to the Siren by This Mortal Coil (though the original by Tim Buckley is still amazing)

So I asked #ChatGPT to write a #Perl script which retrieved a #JSON object from a URL, parsed it, and printed the nodes I wanted. It returned a very simple, neat script, which retrieved the JSON object, but printed nothing. Because it wasn't parsing the JSON object correctly. It turned out to be good at producing plausible output which is wrong and non-functional.

The lesson of #Twitter's glacial collapse is that you are never safe on a platform which is owned by someone else. There is a lesson there for all those writers flocking to #Substack

@jeena I absolutely agree about the journalists, but Twitter is seeing more and more frequent outages. Like an ancient castle, it is crumbling around the edges. But it may still stand for a while yethttps://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/mar/01/twitter-down-for-more-than-an-hour-around-world

Twitter banning Substack links yet another example of why you can never expect to sustain anything over a long period on a platform you don't own or control. You are forever at the whim of the owners. The same is true of Substack. At any point, it could go bust or get bought out by a brain-dead billionaire bellend and that's your income stream fucked. Do not rely on a platform you don't own.#Twitter #Substack #BillionaireBellend

@stux Her name is Sarah Lezito, a professional stunt rider from Reims in France. She has a bunch of videos up on YouTube. To spoil the magic, the way stunt motorcyclists spin the rear like that is by having a massive rear sprocket, which gives very low gearing. Means you can keep the engine revving very high, right in the middle of the torque curve, at low speed. Gives you a lot of control. Still need incredible balance and hand/body/throttle coordination though!https://youtube.com/@lezitow?si=I_HA7ngTJ15IT5sP
