@janvenetor @jesterchen @randahl I've also heard from people in the industry that the jump to blame renewables by the usual suspects was predictably completely made up and untrue. I forgetthe details but it was basically under maintained older infrastructure in the interconnectors between regions and countries.

@publius @janvenetor @jesterchen @randahl Okay, that may be true but I think we're mixing up *potential* problems with what the actual cause of that blackout was, which was an unrelated switch failure or something.

@futurebird "(A screen with a keyboard in front of it that you sit at is not a "TV")"Ummm... beg to differ - we have more than TV which is very definitely a TV (sits across from the sofa, has tuning and channels and is used for watching live TV, as well as streaming the TV's on-demand services) yet is also used for playing media from the desktop server and has a laptop behind it with a remote keyboard and mouse on the coffee table - which is then used for playing games, surfing the web and... yes... streaming stuff including TV on demand.Conversely, the monitor and speakers at the desktop server are also used if we're sitting at the dining table and... want to watch TV.So TVs are monitors are TVs these days.
