@brandon Did you have any problems getting it to play nice with Linux? I keep getting the inability to turn off num lock

@brandon Gotcha. I'll keep chugging along. Awesome desk, btw (seeing as that was the point of the original post haha)

@brandon Thank you for checking it out! I ended up figuring out the problem. My startup script keeps the numlock on. It wouldn't be a problem, except I have the tenkeyless sized wireless Apple keyboard, so the "numlock" actually overrides normal keys (j, k, l, etc.). Turned that off, and now I'm successfully typing this to you on that same keyboard!

@brandon And I've been working on tweaking my desk setup for better ergonomics. I'm relatively tall so I have a mismatch between desk height and keyboard height (hence the switching between mechanical and apple) and chair height, all with a slanted, carpeted floor. I definitely feel the pain!Whatever you did is working. Nice asthetic for sure!

@derek Hey DT! (I've always wanted to say that)Take a look at "Flavors". It uses the base16 color scheme template structure to allow consistent color scheme changes across apps. They have a bunch built in, but I was semi-easily able to add Xmobar and Awesome as a non-programmer!

@ChrisWereI feel that is only part of a larger issue. How did we let any company or government become anyone's moral guide-rail?

@techit @mattj Agreed for the need for decentralization, but there currently isn't anything near the level of Signal's polish that we can point non-technical people too. Matrix may be getting close, but it's not yet "plug and chug", as it were

@amolith I think at least part of it may be regional (e.g. US vs. UK). Fun fact: in Hebrew it's most commonly called a "disc-on-key" and in Russian a "flyeshka" (as in 'little flash")

@uoou @berry @chriswere I would agree with @uoou, though of note is that "western" medium nibs (e.g. Germany like Lamy) will be broader than Japanese nibs (e.g. Pilot), so there's a bit more play in the nib size than one might think simply going off of the names of the size.

@killyourfm From my understanding, these sports are called football to distinguish it from horse sports (e.g., polo) and then the people in different towns (e.g., Rugby) made their own rules for these foot sports and they evolved. Some allowed hands, some didn't. The rest is history.

@gmcgath It makes sense in a way, given he was an Anglo-Saxonist. He even said that the dialogue between Bilbo and Smaug was partially inspired by the missing/destroyed portion of Beowulf where a thief steals from a dragon. The early Germanic myths have some overlap and he clearly loved those stories (be they Old English, Norse, or German). Tolkien was a master.
