@slashdot why would anyone want to, though? Wouldn't C or C++ be a better choice? Or Rust?

@slashdot Seeing how most extensions worth having are written for both browsers already, I don't see much point to this. Maybe there will be a few edge cases that will lure a few people over, but nothing substantial. If other browsers, like Falkon and Pale Moon were to do this, *then* we would have a game changer on our hands.

@slashdot The dumbest argument made against AI is that it uses what everyone else has made to inform it.Everyone is inspired by things other people have made, whether copyrighted or not. We humans create works that use existing copyrighted works as a foundation all the time without it infringing on anyone's copyright. We see artists mimic other artists and art styles, we hear musicians use a sound they heard somewhere in their music to transform a variation into a new genre.

@endDRM Intellectual property is the bedrock of the technological advancement we have enjoyed over the last 200 years. Intellectual property applies to open source as well, as under GPL people own the code they contribute to a project.DRM sucks, but don't put Intellectual Property in your crosshairs while trying to end DRM.

@fsf I can't get my loved ones to use Jitsi. They're either too old, too close, or too tied into Discord with their other social circles.

@slashdot Users don't "prefer" Google, they use it because it's what they're used to, and in many cases because it's the default search engine of their browser of choice.Which browser has the largest market share?Google Chrome. What's Chrome's default search engine?Google. Most people are painfully unaware of what Google is and does.

@slashdot That's because Linux users know to download their software from their distro's software center, not some shady website.

@slashdot It won't happen, Nintendo's position is too strong, their brand too heavily ingrained in public consciousness, and their accountants too smart. It would take nothing short of an economic crisis to force Nintendo into a position of wanting to sell and by then Microsoft would be in an equally shaky position.Don't get me wrong, I have no love for Nintendo. I didn't grow up with a Nintendo console, I'm not attached to any of their IPs, I'm just looking at the reality of the matter.

@endDRM You misunderstand. "Rights management" means they are managing your rights, which by default of understanding legalese and PR speak means they are restricting you. Also, why don't you guys promote GOG more often? Their entire thing is selling games without DRM.

@BrodieOnLinux I subscribe to works well and feels correct. If you're not taking pride in your work to the extent of making it the best that it can be, then why are you in this line of work?

@endDRM Digital Rights Management is about protecting the rights of the IP holders and distributors. It doesn't actually work, mind you, but that's what the name is about. The rights of the sellers, not the rights of the consumers. Don't get me wrong, I think DRM is stupid along with regional distribution locking. I just recognize that your rhetoric is idiotic.
