@MissGayle @rustoleumlove @rlstone4dems @_L1vY_ I wonder if you could elaborate on “it's not safe”? Signal uses end-to-end encryption for messages, and encrypts metadata. They don't store messages longer than the time required to deliver them. Naïvely that sounds safer than most other services. Where is the risk? What could usefully be turned over to a malicious government actor? (Genuine questions, not adversarial.)

@MissGayle @rustoleumlove @rlstone4dems @_L1vY_ That doesn't seem to be entirely true (e.g. contacts list):https://signal.org/blog/sealed-sender/Using IP address for location isn't something that would be specific to Signal, and can be mitigated with VPN; unless you forego electronic communication completely (which is certainly a strategy) I'm still left unclear how Signal is “unsafe”?

Minnie isn't convinced about being indoors when there are deliveries happening outside. However:I called her inside an hour or so ago out of the downpour, and she somewhat reluctantly went to bed. But then wanted to go back out again.She went out of the back door, got rained on, turned round, screwed up her face, then scurried back in again…To the french doors.Which I opened for her.She trotted out and seemed … disappointed that it was raining on the patio as well…#DogsOfMastodon#Rain

@Nonilex Even though wind is obviously “variable”, coupling with batteries or other long-term storage provides a reliable service.Generally I believe that the levelised cost of wind+storage is still less than that of gas, and is obviously even better at rapid dispatch to meet instantaneous demand#RenewableEnergy#Electrification#WindEnergy#BatteryStorage
