@Bredroll She mentions at the beginning of the video that she thinks books are getting worse. I think AI slop is contributing to that trend.I also admit that I did not watch the entire video. My attention span is much shorter than it used to be and I can't spend 27 minutes watching a talking head with a giant microphone in front of his/her face reciting stats. I'm not a fan of shorts and I don't watch TikTok, but I expect talking heads to get to the point a lot quicker than 27 minutes.

@Bredroll I figured she would. I just didn't have the patience to wait for itI think the problem is getting worse. And although I'd like to think it's a bigger problem with young people, I see myself falling into it too. Although I do still read books, I'm far more likely to read them as audiobooks on long drives. I just can't seem to sit still for long periods of time with a book (or e-book) on my lap.

@nicholas It's funny that you should mention Project Hail Mary. I listened to a series of Great Courses lectures about science fiction through the Libby app. It mentioned that book. I immediately put a hold on the audiobook version and was shocked to see that there were so many people already waiting for it. Did they just do a movie or TV show? I'm apparently missing something there, but I'm looking forward to reading the book either as a book or audiobook. (1/2)

I haven't enjoyed very much recent fiction other than some genre fiction like mysteries. I recently read all of the Thursday Murder Club books and enjoyed them, mostly because of the wittiness of the characters. But general fiction? The New York Times best sellers? None of that stuff seems to interest me. (2/2)

Started making bracelets strung on 49-strand beading wire instead of made with double wrapped loop links. I don't know why I've never done this before, but I've made two so far: denim lapis and kazoos lazuli with sterling silver and Tonopah turquoise with copper and sterling. These are both about 7 1/2 inches long and fit my wrist. I'll probably make a few 8-inches long ones next. I'll try to do some glamour shots for the online shop on Monday or Tuesday.

@FediTips @Badgardener @joinin I spend Christmas alone just about every year these days and I don't mind it at all. It's just another day. One year I did start following the #joinin tag. Unfortunately, I had to stop following it because it was dragging me down with depressing posts and even some pleas for financial assistance. Yes, I'll get into a conversation with you and maybe we can even build a friendship, but I won't do it if you're dripping with self pity. I'm not a shrink. 🤷🏼♀️

Well, the sun came out and there are blue patches of sky and I suspect we might have a decent sunset. My pups and I went for a nice two-hour walk among the boulders. This may sound crazy, but I'm going to move my rig out of my campsite turn it around and park it facing the other way so I get to see the sunset through my back window. I don't know why it didn't park like that when I got here; I usually know better.

@DevlinLeathercraft I have come to truly believe that teaching people my skills is a better way to make money than using my skills to make things people don't want to pay for.Years ago, I had a booth at a venue in Quartzsite, AZ for 10 days. I sold my jewelry but also taught classes on how to make jewelry. I made more money teaching than selling. And that's back when silver was cheap and all of my work was priced well under $100.
