@leo Maybe Elon really wanted Mastodon to succeed and burning down Twitter was the only way to properly stress test it. 😀

@leo I'd say if you are able and want to donate, maybe split your donation between the devs and your local host. The $1 per month plan for the devs seems like more of a tip / pat on the back for them to keep up the good work. Then maybe see if your host has a donation page and kick them as much as you wish, maybe $5 (cup of coffee) per month seems reasonable. A nice 1:5 ratio for devs to host, increase the amounts as you see fit.

@leo For my special use case, I use the Playapod #Android app on my #Chromebook so I can queue up the video TWiT podcasts. I have those playing off to the side of my main work computer, since our corporate VPN blocks a ton of stuff. It was one of the few apps that supported videos that I could find. https://playapod.com/

@leo @denise With Elon's resources, he "could" have taken some time to understand what Twitter is actually used for by various groups of people (news, journalists, disenfranchised groups, dissidents, etc.) and come up with a plan to steer it in a better direction. But I guess it is easier to burn down the building for the insurance money, than to refurbish it into something beautiful. I'm not vested in Twitter, but I see the use cases for others. It's just a shame.
