@ericbuijs Sounds about right. In any case, it's not according to me – the only people saying that Stallman stepping down is a bad thing are white, cis, men. Literally *everyone* else is celebrating.

Just a semi-regular reminder that "Linux" isn't a platform. GNOME is a platform, KDE is a platform. Linux is a kernel.Any web app can claim Linux support, as can Windows app running under Wine. "Native Linux" apps that aren't KDE or GNOME apps aren't native at all.

PCs are well-supported dumpster fires. Macs are poorly supported ivory towers. ARM boards will only boot if you get an image from a sketchy github repo in a dark alley, and then your SD card dies.Pick as many as you want, sucker.#Linux

@fitheach Well, when I first established this service, Sendmail was the gold standard, so I've kept using that for literally decades. Now it seems like Exim is the new Sendmail however, so I feel like I may as well jump ahead and go with Postfix, tbh.

Just discovered Flatseal on Flathub: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.github.tchx84.FlatsealAlong with other gems like Lollipop, Fragments, Icon Library, Colour Palette, Bustle, I'm really enjoying the renaissance in GNOME app development that Flatpak and Flathub have ushered in.#GNOME #Flatpak

@Linux4Everyone I'm looking forward to this being usable as a day-to-day driver, tbh, because I'm pretty tired of distros shipping piecemeal, modified, patched, out of date parts of the desktop.Would be interesting to see how well it worked as-is, or maybe install something like the nix package manager to fill in the gaps.

From now on I'm never buying another laptop without being able to actually try out its trackpad first, or at least see a video of someone using it.

@thibaultamartin Aye I had only ever used T and X series back in the day. Then I started using MacBookPros for a while and it made me wonder what people were complaining about. Most recently I picked up a laptop from a Linux PC vendor (you know, to do the right thing) and finally found out: The problem trackpads isn't trackpads, the problem with trackpads is PC manufacturers.

I'm writing a bog-standard Unicode tokeniser to replace the crap one SQLite ships, and I'm wondering why I'm wasting my life writing C code again. In the same vein of the old post I re-tooted, is there a Rust guru out there that can tell me if: * Decent ICU bindings or equivalent Unicode normalisation, case folding and word-break analysis exists for Rust? (the latter being key) * Decent SQLite FTS5 custom tokeniser bindings or equivalent exist for Rust?#Rust #Oxidisation #ICU #SQLite

Anyone have any recommendations for building a resource-oriented REST API in Python (preferably) or JS?I'm not looking for something like Flask or FastAPI to build a REST-like API, I'm looking for actual REST - you know, where you do a `GET HTTP/1.1 /` and you get a list of links to valid sub-resources, and follow the links from there.#HTTP #REST #Python #JavaScript #LazyFedi
