This might come as a shock to Germany and the CDU party, but Russia's invasion of Ukraine guarantees that there can be no relationship with Moscow for at least another generation. And given how Russia has refused good relations with Western Europe in the vast majority of years since the 1917 Revolution, it is not worth wishing that things improve in this lifetime. @weedisgood @Teri_Kanefield Or maybe, Garland decided to let the DOJ prosecute people for entering the Capitol first, and see where the affidavits, electronic messages and testimony leads. While it was frustrating not knowing what Garland was doing, by May 2022, he had collected a lot of information on those who organized the coup attempt. By November, all the files went to Jack Smith. I expect indictments against Trump before Thanksgiving this year. Not losing my shit just yet.

@Teri_Kanefield I'm not a lawyer, but I thought it important to point out how serious this could be. Perjury is not simply denying something under oath. It's telling a false story. Something like, "that phone call was a personal one," or, "so-and-so was calling about a whole different thing." That is not just perjury, but it could lead to a new investigation of a criminal conspiracy. Or, sadly, this could be the last we ever hear of it. Meanwhile, Jack Smith's grand juries hum along.

@Teri_Kanefield That's brave of them. And Jack Smith will check the names of those indicted. I That's key: who are the witnesses who committed perjury. That's fuel for Jack Smith, and he's probably already all over it.
