@richardtol @davidho I would keep aggressive targets only if they are followed by aggressive action. So far, the actions tend to be that we'll start cutting emissions in 2030.

@richardtol @edwiebe I'm not trying to start a war, but the decades needed to decarbonize were thr last four and very little was done.I'm for a multi-prong solution: reduce carbon emissions, alleviation of the effects, experiment on removing carbon and experiment on methods to cool the planet.I think we might be an agreement that panic is detrimental to the discussion. That's something that bugs me.

@stux it's complicated. From what I understand, he wasn't funneling money into a personal Swiss bank account. He bought property mostly for FTX or invested it through his other company.Banks invest our savings in other companies, but they have risk management. FTX had no risk management.It's too bad someone so young is going to spend, at least, some of the prime of his life in prison.

@stux I worked at a non-tech company that wanted to develop an app. I was kicked off the app team by the owner because I didn't have the newest iPhone.My next job was at a tech company. A majority of Devs had flip phones or smart phones with no apps on them.

@futurebird The endangered species act was passed 92-0 in the senate, 390-12 in the house and signed by Nixon. The ban of DDT was by the EPA under Nixon and EPA administrator Ruckelshaus, a Republican. The Montreal Protocol banned CFCs in 1989. It was widely supported as it has been ratified by every country in the UN.It is inspiring to see that people do come together when motivated.

It amazes me how little I hear a out the #SpaceX Starship delays and the effects on #Nasa #artemis. If this was a Nasa run project, it would be discussed as another govt. failure en continu.On that subject, from what I can tell, the Saturn V went from concept to launching humans in 6 years.It's hard to tell when Starship began, as Elon talks about stuff for years before working. However, it seems like we are nearing year 8 of dev.
