Hello Mastodon! I'm new to this site (potentially migrating from Twitter). I post primarily about health policy (book under contract with Harvard Univerity Press), American democracy, and politics more generally.

@DavidCorn One of the things I tried to emphasize for my Intro to American Politics students this semester was that in addition to rampant election denialism up and down the ballots across the US, but they really needed to focus on the importance of Secretary of State candidates. Far too often, they fly under the radar. (Was glad to have donated to the AZ SOS candidate.)

I guess on the plus side, this spring I’m teaching Research Methods in Political Science, and am on the lookout for examples of how not to do statistics (especially now that Bill Mitchell is no longer on Twitter).

I’m sure that reinstating to Twitter the greatest threat to American democracy will be JUST the ticket to comforting advertisers thinking of pulling out.

I've got one week left of teaching Constitutional Law this semester and I'm all set to discuss equal protection as applied to women and the LGBTQ community but then the twice impeached former president decided that we should terminate the Constitution. What a time to be teaching in this field... Oof.

I’m obviously not a big fan of health insurance companies — hence why I’m writing a book on coverage denials — but I’ve got to say I’m relieved to be on this health plan given the cost of October’s surgical procedure.

42 years ago today, the NYT published its first coverage of what would be the AIDS epidemic. It would be difficult to overstate the centrality of And the Band Played On to my personal and professional development in health politics and public health research. I wish we’d learned more lessons from this period, but am grateful to be able to teach this important but painful history to my students.
