       @mametsuko I’m low key trying to learn a bit of Japanese (really need to put in more effort), but yeah, English is confusing as fuck (and I’m a native speaker). It’s all about memorizing all these different rules for words that have their root from other languages. Absolutely nothing consistent

       @chu Given how difficult it is to learn English with all the different rules for spelling, pronunciation, grammar, etc, it should be the other way around. I say this as a native English speaker

       @futurebird I have a TV, but it’s in the basement and hasn’t been powered on in a year and a half, with no plans to actually turn it on any time soon. The only reason I’ve kept it is that it’s a dumb TV, so if I want to watch something, I don’t have to worry about it spying on me

       @futurebird I know the statistics also, and when MegaMillions or PowerBall gets to be be big prize money, I’ll occasionally throw some money away for a strip of tickets. I know the probability of winning is less than me living to 150 yrs old, but someone always wins the pot eventually, and it might be me this time (assuming I actually go to the c-store to buy one).
