@futurebird most of the ppl around me don’t have any kind of religion, and it’s becoming pretty clear to me that some people crave that rigidity and zeal and ability to clobber others with your righteousness. They’ll just find something else to attach it to if not religion. I honestly don’t know if it’s better or worse to have that vessel be institutional religion. But I certainly don’t think it’s the root of the problem.

@futurebird I was **inches** away from being scammed by someone pretending to be animal control and saying they had my dog who had run away and needed a deposit for surgery, claiming she’d been hit by a car. I absolutely would have given them my cc number. I was so scared and sad and relieved — just such a rush of emotions. But they asked for Zelle and it was just…off. Like with you, part of what made it clear it was a scam was when they got mad that I tried to hang up and call them. I was like “dog people are not this mean.” Cause wow they were so, so mean. But truly they would have had me.

@benroyce @MaryAustinBooks I am still be-fucking-fuddled by the person on here who was like “all you rubes boycotting Disney are so stupid. The only thing worth doing is voting” And I was like “you can do both and maybe it’s not helpful to discourage people from taking an action?”Then he told me boycotts never work and blocked me. It is not that complex an idea to hold in your head that people doing something you think isn’t that useful can also do other things. The day is long.

@futurebird I remember the huge marches against that idiotic war and then a decade later people just acting like “no one could have known this wouldn’t work out”. Yes we did. Just like we do now.
