@fitheach thanks for doing that, I've been unreasonably looking forward to it for weeks!! That's a useful bit of kit and I expect you'll have some really enjoyable camping outings with it. Very satisfying! Thought the video worked really well too, as did the hosting.

@fitheach computers and audio can be a real challenge. We've been recording meditations for my yoga-teacher wife, and that has also been a bit of a journey! Found some great software en route, but we are still actually using a hardware recorder. I think I need to do some more exploring of peertube and other audio/video/photo fediverse software, I've been enjoying being away from the big, algorithm-driven platforms.

@Ricardus both my parents in law, in their 80s, got it last year. One had a really bad time, the other had no symptoms, and this was pre vaccination. So really unpredictable! If she's been vaccinated, I'd think her chances are v good but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

@fitheach I've been very happy indeed with Jekyll:- Decent themes available- Easy local development- Uses markdown, which I use for everything else too- Very easy to hack themes as needed- Super-secureI set up my wife's yoga website https://elliedenman.yoga/ by Jekyll-ising an HTML theme she found, and it works fine. WordPress became too complicated and demanding of infrastructure when you want to make big changes (you need a whole separate deployment, really)#jekyll #wordpress

@fitheach I very much like python and that sounds good, the main downside (same as WordPress) is that you have the worry of running a publicly visible server so need to stay on top of patches (CMS and host) and hacking. The beauty of the SSGs is it is just a bunch of text files - there's nothing to hack. You need to work a bit harder if you need comments / site search, but otherwise it's a slam dunk for me now!
