@alcinnz I often look at the huge list of libraries being downloaded when I 'cargo install' something and wonder if there's some better library that does the same thing but the author just doesn't know. I'd love more curated library lists for that reason.

@alcinnz I actually prefer the #Rust / #Perl method of having a good online repo for fetching libraries and Python has evolved dramatically in that way since the introduction of pip. That said, I still prefer curated well-known libraries that I can look up somewhere and probably trust because of who listed them. I'm the kind of programmer who wants to read reviews of libraries before using them.

@thenewoil this is going to get messy in court because of technical details. As I recall, it simply logged the bluetooth hardware id of nearby devices with a timestamp. If someone with the software reported themselves infected, it went to a database where your phone could check if that person's MAC had been near you recently. Not even remotely a privacy violation.Also no, other software cannot access those logs on modern Android phones.

@Atexjam @programming_discussions university of Waterloo here in #Canada and the #Toronto Science centre had an excellent sit down coffee shop style interactive session with two quantum computing people a few years back, it was excellent. Wish it happened more often.#quantumComputing #Science

@EU_Commission things are far worse over here in North America. I'm excited to be taking the train to and from my fall vacation with my wife and friends but on average, train travel isn't even an option for most people in #Canada, despite being a country built around rail.Good luck! No link.In reality, Company A earns $X largely because of ad revenue on platform Y, and pays out creators from said revenue, as well as profiting from it. So yes, I fully sympathize with any company running 500 petabytes of video storage wanting to retain their passive revenue stream.If you don't want to give them ad revenue, go watch videos somewhere else.

They do this super fun activity in my town where they gather up as many #canoe and #kayak paddlers as possible into the world's tallest #liftlock.
