You know those puzzles where you slide around little squares and there's one empty space you move adjacent tiles in to solve the problem?My home reorganisation is one of those right now, except I don't have an empty square - I have two half-empty ones and I need to make a choice.1) empty the spare bedroom - this fills up what I want to turn into the music/video/whatever studio space.2) do the opposite - make the studio work, fill the spare room with stuff to sort.

The sensible thing is to empty the spare room, as redoing that won't take long and I could have it done pretty quick, then get to the studio.However I WANT the studio and have wanted it for a long time and I could have it NOW and just close the door to the spare room and forget it exists ...I should finish the spare room. I should still be cleaning out the spare room, yes - but this project is important!I've got this old portable PA speaker thing that I've been intending to turn into my workshop music system for a while now.I've got a little Bluetooth module and might gut some some other old devices and slap it all together, I'm mainly hoping to retain the amplifier and the 12V battery charging system, but we'll see how that looks when I get right in there.

@s0 if you've got any thoughts on how to critically assess the amp/charging components in here and decide if it should be replaced or not, I'd love to hear them.Aside from the battery it came with being dead, it all seems to work just fine - aside from things like the optical drive being effectively useless and the mics operating on the old frequency we can't use anymore, but I'm tossing those anyway.

Check out my dull black box on a shelf! I hacked in a fan after noticing how damn hot those USB radio things get. I'll smooth out and clean up the hole for that later, I need to find a little grille or something to go over it because aesthetics, so I'll revisit it soon.I guess I also really need to add a status display or something to the front next. Maybe current time, since it's a stratum 1 NTP server as well ... :awesome:

I'm regularly picking up more aircraft, and ones over 100km away and well over the other side of the bay now. I haven't moved the antennas up to max height or anything yet either, since I wanted to keep it easily reachable from the ladder without having to stand the roof until I'm satisfied the whole setup has settled in and works well.Hearing a plane going overhead and clicking on a map to see what it is will never get old.

So I've screwed the lid onto the #ADSB feeder box for a little bit while I get some other stuff done.I've tweaked the code a little and refined it so the LCD updates are smoother, and it runs perfectly in sync with the curses emulation of the front panel as well. This is a ludicrous feature that took me a whole evening to do and I'll probably never see again.

@grumpy this is doing exactly the same thing as dump1090, basically just on a different frequency. This map is showing only signals received from the antenna on my roof.
