@Gina @kev used to love Zimbra (in the end it was overkill for my self-hosting needs). I never saw anything better in terms of calendar/mail groupware integration with phones etc (as well as harnessing its LDAP for other open source stuff) that wasn’t Exchange. I wonder if NextCloud is creeping up on that now, I know it does calendars pretty well.

@Gina Mozilla experimented with ‘Persona’ but gave up. However, OpenIDConnect/oAuth is making a comeback. There’s a very cool tool called Vouch which can integrate with Nginx to do auth for pretty much any backend app (I’ve used it for Redmine, Nagios, and others): https://github.com/vouch/vouch-proxy In smaller institutions that run some sort of Identity Provider like LDAP etc, SAML is very popular.

@Gina I have to look at Gluu too for a project. It looks so complicated though to hook into an existing identity store. But seems to have heaps of cool features too...

@tails @syster please try to push back in that mailing list thread re: twitter mirror. Most fediverse people really dislike that. Real users are better. The Tails project should understand and appreciate the appeal of a community controlled, anti-corporation social media presence as being *better* than the current Twitter account.Seems (from having read the thread during the week) it’s hard for even open source devs to get their head around, not sure why.
