@clive I also came to enjoy writing alt-text as it can add an opt-in layer of information that's valuable to everyone. I think it's the engineers poetry and a great exercise in filtering key information out of a lot of noise, subjective as that may be.The only thing that sometimes bothers me is that it makes every image a ripe fruit for the "AI" grifters to harvest.

@keelan This is a PCB in a CNC controller sold in 1989 by german machine builder Schmoll. The machine this belonged to cost probably 300-400k Euros in todays money. PCB designers had definitely more fun back then.

@clive There is one book that comes to mind in the architectural planing / ergonomics / design / construction space that fits this bill exactly. "Bauentwurfslehre by Neufert" ("Architects Data" in engl.).A massive amount of information, heavily illustrated, that one would have a hard time piecing together from online sources.Originating from the Bauhaus school in the 1930's it is still updated today and afaik still used as a textbook in architecture here in Germany.https://www.neufert-stiftung.de/en/bauentwurfslehre
