@renatoram @mike when they suggested changes to DES it actually made it stronger (though it also means the NSA's knowledge of crypto was far ahead of the public state of the art at the time). That was a long time ago though, and their track record is more questionable now.Though SELinux was surprisingly OK

@ParadeGrotesque at this point I would consider going to one off events (conferences, team planning meetings) but going into an office day in and day out ... just seems overly risky.Might be ok if you're single and living by yourself, but otherwise...

@feld @gme their binaries work OK unless you're on the bleeding edge... scratch that, even leading edge. Took them years to support Wayland.That being said, there's finally an official open source driver, though it's not ready for desktop use yet

@blacklight the FB UX is not great (a lot of it due to experiments, indeed) but I wonder if there's really one intentionally gobbling up the battery? I suspect it's more a 'tragedy of the commons' situation with many teams pushing their own thing without regard for overall power usage.Agreed on your points broadly though.Disclaimer: I work there but miles removed from anything product related

@feld EVs (anddeven hybrids!) are great that way. I get so used to regen braking it's annoying to rent a car and discovering cruise control doesn't maintain speed on downslopes

I just bit the bullet and finally bought a lifetime subscription to #CodeWeavers's #CrossOver edition of #Wine!Been an on and off contributor to their old Beta Tester program, and really appreciated getting free access longer than I expected. Now you have to contribute enough to get to level 5 of BetterTester to get free download, and my car's software updater only works on Windows and Mac, and works beautifully in Wine, so...Also donated the $65 Swagbukaroos I get to the Wine project
