#TIL #FOSDEM #LessonLearned 😞Don't be like us, watch out for your backpacks in restaurants (#Brussels)Last night two of our backpacks were stolen at a restaurant by casual thieves. Luckily the Apple tracker for my laptop kept updating, so we chased the thieves for 6km on foot, taxi and sprinting through Brussels and could corner them in the end. Sadly no bystander helped or called the policeWe got our laptops back plus one extra but my laser-cutter, power banks and some harddrives were gone

@simon in my book that’s one of its advantages. The ability to correlate/combine information from very different domains much like creative people do. With the advantage of having ingested more than a human could read and memorize. @simon so obvious in retrospect. As LLMs are text command input and outputs we can use the full power of all commandline tools combining them as lego blocks. @tagesschau Ich glaube die @AufstandLastGen sollte auch mal einen #GeneralStreik von den Gewerkschaften ausrufen lassen, dann würde sich wahrscheinlich ganz schnell was bewegen in Industrie und Politik.

@simon i think i like the approach the IB folks took by not forbidding it but asking students to mark it as quotes with source. That deals with the length and attribution. So folks can decide if they want to read it.

@simon we do the same with medium. Write& generate in asciidoc and render to html and thr copy and paste to medium and fix some of the errors. With wp we used the api to post the html. Yep spreadsheets too esp generate db stmts from tabular data for novices.

@simon couldn’t we use structured begin and end markers that delineate text to process but disallow instructions within that boundary? I guess another option would be to get an api the besides system, user also has a data entry that’s preventing from containing instructions. Or precompute embeddings on user input and use them instead of plain text.
