@nvk would be worth it for the diamagnetism alone. Interaction with a strong magnet is eerie.

@nvk seems good for an established tribe but it looks like you have to ask people to follow you by providing a profile link and your posts are only visible to those who follow you and their followers.ends up being walled off from public view like mastodon and harder to connect with othersseems more decentralized though. self hosting your own posted media is interesting.offline capability is cool

@nvk looks cool but it seems like there's a bug in the SMS verification; just says "Invalid format." when I try.without SMS verification, the post visibility constraints and follow mechanics are cumbersome. with SMS verification, things might work elegantly.users hosting their own media is interesting.

@stevenroose @billstclair @aral I highly recommend "The Ethics of Liberty" for a carefully reasoned and consistent exploration of natural rights in relation to property rights.https://mises.org/library/ethics-liberty

@lovizio @Nakadai_mon Ah I see what you mean; that is a great example that cannot be ignored, especially by those with exposure to that currency.Oblivious people in the US will be the last to learn that lesson, but maybe that's actually for the best in terms of the post-hyperbitcoinization balance of power.

Jason Lowery in the Jimmy Song interview: "You hear Bitcoiners often making the claim that Bitcoin could reduce war, but I haven't found anyone...articulate why."Really? So no one has ever explained to him that under a Bitcoin standard, waging war will be ~prohibitively expensive as it must be paid for by overt [and unpopular] taxation instead sneaky inflation or bonds?Bitcoin's inviolable price signal makes the negative ROI of war too clear for it to stay in business.

@Nakadai_mon I agree, and I think his sophistry is good for winning over those clinging to a nationstate military mindset, but another way to put it is that war is ~waste of resources and Bitcoin pulls the curtain back on that. His outlook also presupposes the current geopolitical landscape with the current cast of belligerent country characters. Post hyperbitcoinization, those obsolete power structures will crumble to the level supported by ~voluntary taxation.

@peteIt's probably a matter of power applied. With an aluminum boat hull, yes, stray current from normal systems can lead to perforation within hours. With a steel hull, iirc, it's more like days.Paint is also a factor.Metal boats usually have a leakage current alarm and periodically replaceable sacrificial anodes to protect against this.Seems like bridges might use sacrificial anodes as well: https://www.dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-maintenance/repository/CathodicProtectionSystems.pdfTram lines can provide the stray current:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/273770635_Protection_of_Bridges_Against_Stray_Current_Corrosion
