Imagine my surprise when Durkheim's concept of anomie (normlessness) oozed up from deep memory. Quaint but true, the swift disappearance of familiar norms (anomie) in my macro-social media life is having an impact, viz., unexpected grief. Do #sociology students still study Durkheim? @publius I had no problem teaching Durkheim, Weber, and Marx, plus some early feminist social theory to undergrads during the late 70s. Can't imagine doing that today but no problem! I didn't get tenured. #feminist #sociologist 😱
