@stfn instead of people buying a Nas. I think a storage via wifi might actually be a very good idea hehe.. Especially for people who have no technical knowledge obviously.

@stfn lol. I had the same thing with my winegui project. It feels kinda weird to see others creating a video of your project right? But very cool non the less.

@yura 300 watt? That is very very low. Where did you get this power supply?Today they only sell like 600, 750, 800, 1200 watt power supplies.

@yura @HurricaneWeasel if it's containing chocolate for some reason, don't feed it to cats. Since that is poisonous to them.

@nixCraft I mean you can run doom basically everywhere. So I think you can run a stripped down version of doom on a Sim card, in theory.

@hetzner if that is true, you have not deployed enough dedicated servers. 😜No but you're right. It's also the upfront cost if you self host, is why people try to go to cloud hosting. I'm actually against big tech like Google etc. and recently Amazon outage showed how much others are dependent on the 'cloud'.Then again, I rather see people use Hetzner then using Aws, Cloudflare, Azure, gcp, etc. But ideally self hosting.

@wjmaggos ah Mastodon can best be explained as software for the fediverse. It's a software platform for connecting to the fediverse.Alternatives like Mbin, Lemmy or piefed exists as well. Which are also software for the fediverse.

@wjmaggos it's called decentralized and sometimes it's federated depending on the underlying technology. Like peertube/Mastodon/mbin/lemmy are federated using ActivityPub protocol. While other technologies like torrents are also decentralized, but peer to peer (p2p). And often using a Distributed Hash Tables (DHT). But not federated. I personally like p2p even more.
