Great article on female founders. We need more, especially in #tech and #cybersecurity #womenincybersecurity #womenintech #femalefounders https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2022/12/13/look-past-todays-metrics-to-celebrate-the-growth-of-female-founders/

@djsumdog read the article - some great reasons and stats cited, including that we do our homework and research

@djsumdog well i find it surprising that you would question why it matters that a founder is female when I shared an article celebrating women for being good company founders with stats on how unfortunately they are still a minority.

@djsumdog well you're kind of proving the point then. If there are few women working on oil rigs, don't you appreciate the few women working in oil rigs? What's wrong with celebrating the minorities? I can't tell if you're trying to say women are less capable, because if that's what you're saying you're wrong.

@djsumdog so you're saying people should be judged by gender after a very long comment saying we shouldn't care about the gender of cofounders?

@djsumdog oh i totally understand that. I blogged about that in my women in cybersecurity blog. We don't want recognition for being a woman in cyber, we want recognition for our abilities and can compete with men just fine. But I agree with the article because women are just as capable if not more so to be cofounders, yet women are under represented. That was the point of the article, which you either missed or you don't think they deserve the job because it's pandering. I get your PoV, we just disagree.

@djsumdog I can guarantee you that a woman working on an oil rig is a badass and absolutely deserves credit. So you are saying that you don't like the article because men make better company founders? This is exactly why this type of article is good - to challenge your dated views that women aren't suited for these roles. Women are better educated and more qualified than ever, and, as the article states, they often make better leaders/cofounders. You realize how hard it is to run a company - so why not celebrate women leaders (and oil rig workers) who break down these misconceptions that women aren't suited for these types of roles? My blog series is here https://www.esg-global.com/women-in-cybersecurity and I barely scratch the surface of how many amazing women there are in cybersecurity (several in the series are CEOs), yet we still face misconceptions about whether we're qualified for these roles.
