The so-called Tragedy of the Commons was basically white nationalist simplistic bullshit.Great article on Elinor Ostrom and her work on commons: https://aeon.co/essays/the-tragedy-of-the-commons-is-a-false-and-dangerous-myth

So much modern tech leadership is based on a mental model of "machine" rather than "ecosystem". When reading some guru wisdom or another scaling framework, ask: "do they assume a machine or are they enabling an ecosystem?" because we need less machine and more ecosystem. ⚙️ or 🌱

“You know we used to believe that trees competed with each other for light ... Suzanne Simard’s field work challenged that perception, and we now realize that the forest is a socialist community. Trees work in harmony to share the sunlight.” 🌳🌳🤝https://globalnews.ca/news/8356602/suzanne-simard-mother-tree-movie-2/#ecosystems

It's fascinating to watch #fediverse and Mastodon admins in particular speed-running the basic rules of politics and trade relations in near real time. Who'd have thought that social sciences would be useful to social media? 🤔 (Yes, this relates to #fediblock and #defederation )Can anyone recommend any good primers in #politics and #trade relations? 👇

"In their seminal paper, Dunning and Kruger are the ones broadcasting their (statistical) incompetence by conflating autocorrelation for a psychological effect. In this light, the paper’s title may still be appropriate. It’s just that it was the authors (not the test subjects) who were ‘unskilled and unaware of it’."https://economicsfromthetopdown.com/2022/04/08/the-dunning-kruger-effect-is-autocorrelation/ 📈💩

@carapace agreed - the hierarchical nature of folders in folders can be a real PITA I would use Collections:A given doc or doc container is in certain Collections. Each Collection has separate access rights. Collections are searchable and discoverable.

"Surprisingly, our results show that women's contributions tend to be accepted more often than men's. However, when a woman's gender is identifiable, they are rejected more often. Our results suggest that although women on GitHub may be more competent overall, bias against them exists nonetheless."https://www.researchgate.net/publication/308716997_Gender_bias_in_open_source_Pull_request_acceptance_of_women_versus_men 🤬

💡 Creating software does not NEED to be difficult, but it IS difficult when you do not consider:* Social trust boundaries - team size* Semantic boundaries - “fracture planes” / DDD* Cognitive boundaries - team cognitive load and comprehensibilityAnd all these boundaries need to work well with a fast flow of value. Join the "sneak peek" webinar on 18 July 2024 ahead of my expert masterclass in Leeds (04 Sept).https://confluxhq.com/all-events/exclusive-sneak-peek-efficient-organizations-via-fast-flow

@dalias do you like or dislike the term "fast flow of value"? Or does the 🙄 emoji mean something else?🤔
