@kev funny, I'm in the process of doing the opposite switch just to support non-Chromium browser(s)

@kelbot honest question: is there a practical purpose in gopher today (information that's not published elsewhere, I guess?) or is it just for fun and giggles?

@kelbot I see. I guess it's the nature of gopher being "a separate pond" from the http world that makes me wonder, since a lot of the value of the internet, I think, comes from its being interconnected

Sometimes I wonder about the carbon footprint of current technologies (e.g. CI/CD that spins up a docker container to run literally 5 command and shut it down again, or the machine ops overhead of writing a GUI app in python vs C)... Is there any study on that?

@vinnl @Gina yeah, unless there were other hints, I wouldn't take it as necessarily sexist. Bills for rented accommodation work on all kind of funny ways

@Gina @vinnl here we pay the power and internet bill, but the water is paid by the building management. Oh, and the power is on my wife's name, but the internet is on mine, so... messy :)

In the busy, busy world of 2.4GHz WiFi, interference is always a problem. When chip manufacturers are everything but FOSS-friendly, things get worse. Here is my little adventure in getting a Cypress/Broadcom chip to "play well with others" despite the lack of documentation.https://blog.elimo.io/2020/06/05/pta-coexistence/#elimoengineering

Started an experiment on myself. I'm going to be waking up at 5:30am for a week, see what happens. I'm a lifelong night owl (my whole family is, including the 90+ grandpa that never goes to bed before midnight), but I'm running short on time available during the day and hopefully this will help. Wish me luck ;)
