       @Monal: Not feasible for users of "older" Macs. But I have a different question: Does anybody know how to connect to GoogleTalk? It doesn't work with those "special" passwords for individual apps. I've tried multiple clients, Monal included.

       @Monal: XMPP with Google was fine until June this year: https://www.androidpolice.com/google-finally-kills-a-16-year-old-product/Also: People have been using older Macs beyond Apple's deadline for years without problems as long as you get an up-to-date browser and other apps you might need. Not everyone can or wants to update (i. e. buy new) perfectly running hardware after five years of use. Not environmentally friendly either.
