@sir I would judge each CLA on its own merits, rather than saying 'no' outright. They can be an overreach, but they can be part of a mature and well-managed project's governance. It depends on what it actually says.

@sir I think the Apache CLA is quite good. It makes it clear what you can expect from the ASF, has an explicit declaration that you can legally license the work to them, and it addresses non-copyright issues like a patent license. It's good due diligence for projects, especially if they might want to provide commercial services around the software.

@sir I was asking myself yesterday why I prefer Telegram to IRC. The big things that put me (as a tech-savvy person who like federated things) off IRC are awkward sign-up and auth (/msg NickServ isn't a pleasant experience), and having to be always connected to get a scroll back of messages you missed, or notified if someone pings you.If those things put me off, I bet there's a dozen others that stop it proliferating to the mass market.

@codesections I suppose one issue is that if you've got lots of apps all trying to run local web servers, there'd be contention for memorable-numbered ports. Not an issue on something like a router where the UI is the only app doing this.

@fitheach I tend to agree. Considering how much else changed from the book, they could have chosen a more fitting name.

@publius @rysiek I'm assuming it's for Chromium which is now packaged as a snap, to save you ending up with either a missing or broken app post-upgrade
