@futurebird @trinsec That’s how I feel about Yerba Maté. Sometimes I have a cup, OK a pot, in the morning when I want to focus.

#MechanicalKeyboard fansMy favorite keycap and colorway is on sale now on eBay: MT3 Susuwatari. The tactile design of this keycap helps keep my fingers centered on the keys, improving accuracy. That’s my story. The F and J are dished slightly deeper as homing keys. https://www.ebay.com/itm/156354474534?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=cfOE165ZTta&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=c4DN55D8TBW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE

#NixOS users: On a single-user laptop, how do you decide which apps to install globally vs locally if they are equally easy to install either way?

Browsers are tinkering with ways to display multiple web apps at once: An AI chatbot in a sidebar or "workspaces".A more flexible solution that allows you to mix and match windows as you please are tiling window managers like Sway for Linux or Amethyst for macOS. They support many virtual desktops first-class options for supporting windows side-by-side.https://swaywm.org/https://ianyh.com/amethyst/Shouldn't need different ways to switch normal apps & web-apps within a browser.#Linux

For those #Linux users who use the #Sway window manager, have you tried Jay?Jay just released 1.10.0.https://github.com/mahkoh/jay/releases/tag/v1.10.0Same vibes as Sway, but in Rust but without an attempt to maintain compatibility. For example, the config file is in TOML.#JayWM #Wayland

@bruces I got blocked by someone on Twitter yesterday who said I clearly didn't read the linked article. I was the author of the article...

The Framework 16 laptop detects when it's booted partially assembled. It boots into a special mode to walk you through completing the assembly. The screen updates to reflect your progress and prompt the next step. This requires no tools to complete. Impressive! Watch:@frameworkcomputer#Framework #FrameworkLaptop #Framework16 #Linux #Video

@SeanGeil @nina_kali_nina @ludman1 @klappspatack @aboutsignal I tested myself and got a very similar result to @nina_kali_nina I guess no need to post my screenshot, since they are clearly easily faked... or disbelieved... 😂

Time to learn another configuration language: KDL, apparently pronounced "cuddle" is supposed to deal with some of pitfalls of XML, JSON, YAML and TOML. The author kindly asks that you stop sending them to a link to the XKCD "One more standard..." comic strip.https://kdl.dev/#Linux

I'm a Google Workspace admin, and a team member sent me a screenshot showing that a message they wanted to send was being blocked because it violated an organizational policy-- which was news to me-- I hadn't put in place to block messages based on their content.Turns out Google Workspace now warns by default when the message content mentions gender identity. #google #privacy #politics

If you have a Google Workspace account, you could test to see if the rule in place for you by trying to send a message to your personal email address with a gender-related phrase or word you want to test to see if it's blocked to find out more detail what would be blocked and allowed by the rule. #google #privacy #uspol

Google does not disclose exactly how their rule matches that warns users about emails that mention gender identity, but the content that triggered it was a sentence similar to this:"We’ve also removed gender preference as a default field in an effort to reduce the amount of information we’re requesting."Admins have options to change the default from Warn to Block or Allow.#google #privacy #uspol

@jwildeboer @homelab How do you decide what's worth self-hosting?There are privacy and sovereignty benefits to self-hosting, but also some time and complexity costs.

@ieugen @jwildeboer @homelab How has maintenance of Nextcloud been? After hosting email professionally for ~15 years, I have no desire to returning to hosting email again. Like 90% email sent is received is spam and big email players distrust small email senders, especially from a residential IP. Let us know how that goes if you get there.

A small improvement to Samsung’s lethal stove design where the common medium setting looks identical to off, making it hard to spot a stove left on.Here I used black tape for directional marking. Red would be better!#ux #design

@wjmaggos @veronica Can't you use any app that supports that Mastodon when your ActivityPub identity is hosted on Ghost, or no?

@wjmaggos @veronica I just found a forum post about this and no, Mastodon clients won’t work with Ghost because they use Mastodon-specific APIs. A separate app IS needed that’s either specific to Ghost or maybe one focused on long-form content could work with Ghost and other long-form ActivityPub servers.
