Bottom bracket was getting a little clicky on the cheapy single speed mountain bike I’ve had forever. These threaded cartridge bearings are inexpensive ($35) and easy to replace with just a couple of reasonably priced tools. I find the bike work to be extremely satisfying and relaxing. And when complete, there’s not many things as joyful as a smooth-running bicycle ♥️On the other hand, I picked up the Transit Connect van last fall, which is a fantastic bike hauler. It’s very tall, so bikes just roll in upright. But it now has a short in the backup camera wiring, which is going to be a large amount of work to track down. And not nearly as satisfying. #biketooter

@zan @farah Pretty much agree. It didn’t seem that right-leaning when I started there in the mid 80s, but it’s really gone that way since. It’s kind of gross there now. Two of my kids went to U of I; so I’ve spent a bunch of time in Iowa City.So much more fun!

So, reading this page, as someone who's 50-something, realizing I slot neatly into nearly everything here to varying degrees. Why my second grade teacher told my parents at conferences "I can't do anything with him" (they were quite unhappy at this assessment). That anything I'm doing is never good enough. That *I'm* not good enough. Never feeling like I fit in *anywhere*.I'm not going to pursue any formal diagnoses, as I'm not sure what value that would have at this point in life. I'm not even sure I would tell anyone in my personal life. I've never felt that anyone has ever understood me, and I don't think this changes that.But I think it's kind of fascinating to learn what I am for the first time.It's going to take a bit to process this.

Sony TA-1120A is up and running!Completed replacing all the electrolytic capacitors tonight. Except for the large ones clamped to the heat sink. I don’t have all those replacements on hand yet. But it sounds really good as is. It came with the original owners manual, which included these little cards, signed by the Japanese workers who performed final the inspections on this unit. #hifi #vintagehifi #diy
