@AgentCarter_SSR Mitch McConnell is the kid who turned six the day after the cutoff and thinks he's smarter than everyone else because he's bigger but is really just a bully.

@IronMan With a week left to go before election day, you may want to check if your state has collection sites too. In any state you should be able to hand-deliver your ballot to the board of elections, but some places also have additional drop sites. A week is not a lot of time when there is a huge mail deluge (people want to vote!) so think about hand-delivering your ballot if you can.

I live near a coast. Close enough to play hooky and spend the day at the beach. A cheap motel with friends in my misspent youth. Rent a house for a week with my family now that I'm an adult (just like when I was a kid). I can't remember the last summer I didn't go -- even if I was on another continent or the other North American coast -- and I'll miss it this year. Since I don't have private beach property, I cannot fathom a crowded vacation this year. #stayathome https://slate.com/human-interest/2020/05/alabama-beach-crowds-reopening.html

I saw that Gov. Northam in VA signed an executive order that goes into effect today that masks must be worn in stores and other public places. That doesn't sound like the same force as being able to refuse service, and VA isn't the first state with that kind of executive order, but any mask-wearing requirement indoors is good right now since it appears to stop transmission. https://www.governor.virginia.gov/newsroom/all-releases/2020/may/headline-857020-en.html

Things that are not helpful: A senator calling for the 101st Army Airborne Division to be used against Americans. We have communities that have been plagued by the violence caused by systemic racism as long as this country has existed. Causing more trauma with more violence will not solve problems but exacerbate them. Tom Cotton needs to stop talking. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/01/george-floyd-protests-live-updates/#link-DZIOZECK7ZATFIAG3X24YLJFXA

Little shocks me after 3+ years of this administration. Helicopters with the Red Cross logo abused to incite fear against civilians was beyond that pale until yesterday's stunt. (I was not in Lafayette Square and read about it today in the WaPo. It is a place I've protested before and I can only imagine the visceral fear of such a helicopter while being attacked with rubber bullets and tear gas in the capital of our own country. The army is not at war against us.) https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2020/06/02/helicopter-protest-dc/

@HernanHenry For people whose name indicates that they want to keep doing things the old way, they sure are good at forgetting how things were done previously.

@IronMan This is a reminder that getting Trump out of office will not solve the problem. There people like Cotton just waiting to declare war on the American people too. We can't say that Trump is old and won't be around forever. If you think 2016 was the Republican clown car and 2020 was the Democratic one, 2024 will be a parade of right-wingers trying to out-fascist each other for the Republican nomination.

Today would have been Breonna Taylor's 27th birthday. Police had no right to enter her home on an illegal no-knock warrant for someone who once received a package at her house and shoot her in her bed. She should be alive enjoying cake today, not being mourned. #SayHerName #BirthdayForBreonna https://www.glamour.com/story/breonna-taylor-birthday-campaign

@IronMan There's an article in the WaPo today that explains a lot of what you say. Residents don't want a complete defunding and Trumpers have latched onto those words. There are a lot of people who like all or nothing thinking, no police or militarized police.A good person to listen to is Alicia Garza, one of the founders of Black Lives Matter. (Not DHS director Chad Wolf, who thinks there is no systemic racism. I'm not going to quote him. People can read the article.) https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/07/protests-defund-police/

What possesses people to not wait for a protest to pass them and drive into protesters? I've been in plenty of protests, both permitted and "spontaneous," where motorists were obviously annoyed by the protest. You still can't run people over. https://www.wfmj.com/story/42228867/sharon-woman-accused-of-driving-through-farrell-protestors

@Thunderbirds511 You might be able to get access through your public library. You won't be able to get links as with a paid subscription, but if your library participates, you will be able to see full pages like a paper copy. I pay for the online version, but if it's too costly, it's another way to have access. Look for your nearest big city paper on your library's website too. Also WaPo coronavirus coverage is free. Use this link and change the date daily. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/11/coronavirus-update-us/ @IronMan

@rick We are working hard to overcome the electoral college disadvantage, voter suppression, rural (Republican) states having more power in the senate, and Republican gerrymandering. We will hold the House, winning the presidency looks very good, and we are positioned decently to take back the Senate. None of that is an accident. It's hard work by people on the ground. In addition, we have capable Democratic elected officials, whom we put in office.@InternetKevin @IronMan

@rick I'm sure it does look bad from across the ocean. I spent time in Europe during the Clinton, GWB, and Obama administrations. I wasn't a tourist. There was always a noticeable relief when I told people I voted for Obama. (No one ever asked if I voted for Clinton or Bush père). You do get very different news, though, so I'm not surprised you don't know everything. As we do about Europe. I have to watch/read European sources to keep up. I don't get much here otherwise. @InternetKevin @IronMan

@rick It's hard to tell what people have been doing for decades from what they can fit into 500 characters. Hopefully it reassures you to know that constitutionally the election cannot be postponed as the primaries were. It must take place on November 3. Of course Trump is a blustering opportunist, wannabe dictator and will try to stay in power no matter what. We will stop that. @InternetKevin @IronMan

@rick It's not that the Republicans don't use every possible trick. However, our federal system means the states run the elections. Trump cannot stop my Democratic state from holding the election. Governors of northeastern, mid-Atlantic, and western states formed confederations when the federal government wouldn't act on coronavirus. States have separate powers too. @InternetKevin @IronMan

@CallMeMJ As Maya Angelou said, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." We did. Problem is, a lot of Republicans did too but liked it. The people who didn't vote last time, you see it now. If you're not registered for November, do it today. @IronMan
