David and I were extremely conscious of the rise of Facebook in Tumblr's early days, and specifically designed it NOT to want or display your real name anywhere.It was in direct response to that trend.We wanted Tumblr to be a place where you could write as whoever you wanted to be, with no forced associations with people you knew in "real life" and no discoverable links to your “real" identity.Anonymity isn't without its issues, but people need outlets like that.https://mastodon.social/@tofugolem/112763842723365044

The App Store's alleged "protection" of its users from scammy apps has always had a huge blind spot when the scams are paying Apple their IAP cut, and therefore making Apple a lot of money.Intentional? I don't think Apple *intends* to let abusive subscription scams stay in the App Store to make more money.But this has been a problem for so many years, with no obvious progress being made to fix it, that their inaction speaks volumes, whether it's their intention or not.

This is a core system app interrupting you, promoting a sale by a movie-ticketing company, to push you to go see the platform vendor’s new movie.Why not just pop up random ads all the time, always creating new channels that everyone’s opted-into by default so you can never keep up with opting out of them all?Oh wait, that’s already what happens.Apple’s as bad as everyone else. Are any of you still thinking Tim Cook is just doing what he "needs" to do, throwing his own reputation under the bus as a selfless act to protect a larger social well-being, rather than literally just *supporting* the Trump regime because the political favors he negotiates help his company make even more money?Can we all finally see it now?Would anyone bend over backwards so far to try to excuse this behavior for anyone else, or any other company, performing the same actions that Cook has?
