hey instance admins!if someone can brute force your password, they brute force what port your ssh is in. in fact, with nmap they don't even have to try very hard!don't let a wild stranger guilt trip you about using ssh on port 22.

hey fediverse users!if your instance has ssh on port 22, that piece of information alone is meaningless regarding your instance's security. you should worry more about regular backups and ssl.don't let a stranger make you afraid about your stay here.

@nick moving ssh away from port 22 is as much a security measure as putting on a pair of novelty glasses with fake mustache is hiding your identityit's useful to keep your logs with fewer brute force notifications but definitely not serious enough for the kind of guilt tripping that's been going on in the ftl
