@Ayachiii i don't think so. i don't eat meat, but it's just a way of selling product that most people buy?

@Ayachiii fyi making such extreme leaps is what puts people off having genuine conversations about these kinds of issues. nobody wants to be dogmatically leapt on from nowhere

@waifu i don't know how far you got with this but these are both similar. a c-style array's size needs to be known at compile time. so if you're initialising it with the declaration (e.g. int myarray[] = { 1, 2, 3 };) you can omit the size, because the compiler knows how to figure it out.

another week has passed and i'm still unemployed.you know how everyone says a portfolio is super important? i have a pretty good one. and at the top of my projects list i have a website that handles document submissions. it has other cool features and has user accounts and stuff, but it allows anonymous document submission without accounts. and ofc, i can see all activity.

@majachai nobody has submitted a document. not one. i've had three interviews in the last four weeks. not a single person clicked on the first link on my cv, hit some random keys into the big text box that appears, and clicked 'submit' to see what happens. like, that's the bare minimum. nobody i've applied with, not even anybody who has interviewed me, has done something so basic.

@crlf i've been experiencing the flip side. companies who really want the 'perfect' person, which means, idk, someone funnier or kinder or prettier than me, even though i've spent years strengthening a portfolio of work in my own time and always impress them on a technical level? it makes me feel like my failing is being a horrible human being because that's what i'm judged on and rejected for every time

@crlf i think it's generally true once you're in a role, just because it's difficult to fire people (in the uk). my problem with the interviews is that i always come out of them feeling like i had a good rapport with the interviewers and that we equally had a positive discussion - which has apparently never been the case.

@DeeUnderscore did you get the url right? anything other than a public url will request a username and pass (even if there's nothing at the other end)

i guess i'm done with social media? like, i've stuck with it and tried fo reach out to people and stuff but nothing ever comes from it, i'm just on the outside looking in at groups of friends and cliques
