       This short scene with some lovely palette-only animation consists of a fade-in and two palette transitions.The palette transitions are driven from a list of callbacks that are run at regular intervals. Dune appears to allow up to 20 functions in the list, but the function to add to the list is only referenced 18 places in the whole game and I doubt much more than two are ever running at the same time.#DOSGaming #RetroGaming #ReverseEngineering #Dune #CryoInteractive

       I think I just found and fixed a bug in Cryo’s Dune… this animation usually ends at high noon before going to the next scene, but the task actually tries to load a different palette and then re-add itself while it's already running, which seems wrong.If I remove that code the animation continues with a nice fade to a cold palette and then to night.I can't guarantee that this is the intended result but it looks nice!#DOSGaming #RetroGaming #ReverseEngineering #Dune #CryoInteractive

       Maybe the animation was ended early on purpose to lead in to the desert flyover video that follow but the code is still there :)

       Ah, I think the fade-to-midnight is actually used later in the intro, so the animation state is resumed then but with a different image. I don’t see any reason why it tries to load a resource just before the animation ends though.

       @foone Fahrenheit is just a rip-off of the Rømer scale, scaled up and rounded off to make mass manufacturing easier! Rømer had the boiling point 60° and the freezing point at 7.5°…(Fahrenheit's family died of mushroom poisoning and he absconded to Copenhagen to learn from Rømer)
