@lilithsaintcrow Amon Amarth sing a lot about vikings and don't seem to be white supremacists, but I could be wrong. There really needs to be a website that tells you the political affiliations of metal bands.

@lilithsaintcrow Tyr and Ensiferum also seem to not be assholes. It's hard to find concrete information on where some bands stand, unless they are really outspoken about it. A lot of criticism of supposed promotion of far right ideology seems to be people who get paid to complain about stuff going for easy targets.

@amerika Most of Black Metal are just people who like the Silmarilion too much. And a handful of nazis, tankies, ethnostatists, etc. And Death Metal is mostly environmentalists. Aesthetics don't represent actual beliefs.Although solo BM projects, like Burzum, tend to be disproportionately the realm of nutjobs.

@vgr @Elmkast There's both overlap and attraction between interesting people and difficult people, as they both tend to go off the mainstream social scripts, and either improv or play to their own idiosyncratic scripts. That makes them both costly to deal with for normies. The difference is that truly difficult people usually try to force everyone into their personal script, and that stops being interesting fast (if it ever was).

@wolf480pl @natecull Also, a quick reminder that democratic periods in ancient Greece where prone to stuff like civil rights and voting power distribute according to tax brackets, and overall historically notable ancient Greeks mostly look down upon democracy, because they where mostly middle or upper class and afraid of empowering the lower classes.

@wolf480pl @natecull Also, the Roman Republic was undone by the kind of class divide and concentration of wealth that is happening in the US, with the lower classes being enticed into military service for financial reasons, and then joining up with populist leaders for coups. And the whole thing about voting based on class is to measure how many heavy infantrymen and cavalry supported each candidate in a sort of hyper-ritualized civil war.

@wolf480pl @natecull There are many, many paralels to both the end of the roman republic and the fall of the western empire. The most valuable part of a system of elected representatives, peaceful transitions of power, has been lost.Following the trends, it will be an unexciting decay into blood, horror and feudalism, with moments of hope that lead to more blood, horror and feudalism.

@natecull This is the kind of stuff the Portuguese government usually sends to people working in the former colonies during periods of civil unrest/civil war/jihad.

@dlovell To some extent it's more like the collectivization of fuck you money. A fair amount of people involved where expecting to lose out but decided it was an acceptable price to fuck with the hedge fund sith lords. And the attempted crack down we are seeing is still a success. It clearly shows that the sith will just stop us from playing the game as soon as we start winning. It's a powerful point to make.

@amiloradovsky The humanities are very important, as they teach you how humans will screw you out of all your achievements in the areas you like and use the products of your labour to inflict horror after horror on everyone, yet somehow the show keeps rolling (until one day it doesn't).

@fatboy There's too many apps now, I can't even keep track of what's what. My first reaction was to wonder if Signal was one of the fascist ones, or maybe a dogging app.

@valerauko @djsundog Sports are child abuse. Kids need to start before they have the maturity to make long term decisions, and they train in ways that warp how their bodies develop and sacrifice their long term well being.
