@tante @danmcquillan as someone who writes alt text religiously, my preference would be to meet in the middle, with an AI system that tries to figure out what's in an image, and then you can edit the description to improve it. Like the current "detect text from image" feature, which is usually about 70% correct, and then you clean up the result. This helps people with vision disabilities AND people with typing disabilities.
