@Teri_Kanefield @RollingStone Amazing that apparently there are some lines that can’t be crossed. I’d be curious to know why the GOP isn’t interested in defending Santos. I would guess that he doesn’t bring them any advantages, so he’s the sacrificial lamb to show the GOP has ethics. If he’s removed, is he guaranteed to be replaced with a Republican? I can’t imagine they would pursue this otherwise.

@paezha @SrRochardBunson This what I keep saying! The old school GOP wants the legitimacy and power of law and govt behind them. The new GOP, inspired by Trump, wants to burn everything down. But they are united in their efforts to enrich themselves and control others.

@GottaLaff @misc It really pisses me off that they’re calling Vallas moderate. He’s totally in with the police, fear mongering about crime, and his history in education is appalling- exemplified by his backing by a PAC connected to DeVos, moving schools to privatization, funneling students - particularly Black and Latino- into military schools.

@wjmaggos @GottaLaff @misc Since DeVos and Vallas’ focus IS education, agreeing about it is kind of the point. Either you like what they stand for or you don’t. If you respect Vallas’ work in education, and think it benefited the most vulnerable students, then there’s nothing more to be said. We simply disagree.

@Kolomona @Jaden2 I’m pretty sure that the desire to amplify Black voices is specifically so that we can meet more of those interesting people you were referring to. Building diverse communities allow us to gain new insights.

@stux Some chose fascism, but most were just unhappy and decided change was needed. It was an extremely simplistic, emotional response, but this election taught me that’s how it works. The rallies were not well attended. There aren’t that many true believers. Problem is it doesn’t take many to do a lot of damage.
