RT @rahaeli Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. The baffling purple honey found only in North Carolina https://www.bbc.co.uk/travel/article/20250417-the-baffling-purple-honey-found-only-in-north-carolina In a quiet corner of North Carolina, bees produce a violet-hued honey so rare and unpredictable that even experts can't explain it – and that's what makes it magical.

@theregister @tragivictoria The thing is this... I've been watching GNOME since the project first launched. Things that become optional tend to go away a few releases later. Like desktop icons, like menu bars, like a talking UI for blind users.Wayland already dropped massive important features of X11, but the GNOME folks don't use them so they don't care. This violates a principle called Chesterton's Fence. https://fs.blog/chestertons-fence/And they do it *repeatedly*. Worse still, now they're reaching out into other projects to get them to toe the line as well.

A4 Paper Stories https://susam.net/a4-paper-stories.html <- I found this charming. It has a number of embedded potted maths lessons _and_ jokes, and yet, is still short.

An app can be a home-cooked mealhttps://www.robinsloan.com/notes/home-cooked-app/«Have you heard about this new app called BoopSnoop? It launched in the first week of January 2020, and almost immediately, it was downloaded by four people in three different time zones. In the years since, it has remained steady at four daily active users, with zero churn: a resounding success, exceeding every one of its creator’s expectations. »
