@peertube Oh yes, that's one of the features that pushed me to start my own instance, this is great! I'm always reviewing the subtitles though, there are usually a few tweaks to do to make it perfect :)

@technikhil @davidrevoy I just gave #Librewolf and #Zenbrowser a try. Both seem to work perfectly fine, and reimporting my date from #Firefox was easy (which seems logical since they're both based on Firefox).I'm not switching now though. I took a minute to check my Firefox settings and opt out from everything that seemed not to be data privacy friendly.I'm wondering if those forks are actually viable if Firefox dies one day... So for now I'd rather not cut the branch I've been sitting on for 2 decades, wait and see.I like the look of Zen browser though, looks like arc!

@futurebird Newpipe is not storing any video, it is a front end YouTube player.It's like watching YouTube in your browser without an account, except it's through an app basically, that removes ads and tracking, and with history/subscriptions.

@futurebird yes exactly.Well actually YouTube is trying to prevent such tools to work but then a patch come out shortly after to counter that.You can also try #freetube on desktop that does the same thing as #newpipe.I made a video about it recently, it's in French but you have English subtitles available if you want to have a look: https://videos.ikacode.com/w/sBiBSgidzmrx7qw8fenKij

@tuxicoman de mon côté c'est bien newpipe qui ouvre les liens YT, que ça soit dans mon flux Mastodon ou si envoyés via Signal (j'imagine que ça marche aussi dans d'autres applis). Dans quel contexte ça ne marche pas chez toi?

Using standard yet powerful chatmail relays.My daughter needs to communicate with a correspondent in another country, she has no phone but can use a laptop, so this is perfect.
