       @Radical_EgoCom Was I pre-determined to reply to this? Shrug 🤷‍♀️ I mean it’s hard to prove. If a butterfly flapping its wings in New York can affect the weather in Bristol then if there is determinism then it’s clearly a higher power than mortals could comprehend. The universe Herself may have that as a plan for us all.

       @Radical_EgoCom Where does this chain of causality come from? Are my actions determined from birth? My decision to cycle to the pub this evening, why does determinism determine that? I’m not going to say it’s determined by the Universe or any deity. However something must determine why our actions must follow set patents without free will.

       @FSonder Thing is, they’re selling you a product for ‘lifetime’ - folks wouldn’t be happy if someone came in half way through their cars life and said “now you owe use money each month for that”. Software vendors act like no other cowboys. Squeezing every penny out of customers (see the move to everything being a subscription)

       @futurebird @gnate It’s probably the big tech companies. Those who control the flow of information control the power. Corporations already control governments. So the next step is to remove any independent sources of information . So small websites, open social media (the Fediverse) &amp; so on. Then the algorithm will control what the masses think and do. Giving unlimited power &lt;insert Palpatine meme here&gt; to them. It was never about porn.
