@drequivalent @uint8_t Go is rather easy to learn, and will be boring after a while because there's the point where you're just done. Sure, there's more libraries and cool stuff to build, but the language itself is really easy.I'm personally still procrastinating learning rust though and have been programming go professionally for years now, so I may be biased. (But go really is easy to learn)

@uint8_t I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, Fediverse/Mastodon, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Fediverse plus Mastodon. Mastodon is not the Fediverse itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Fediverse system made useful by the ActivityPub specification, its various implementations and vital system components comprising a full Fediverse as defined by ActivityPub.Many computer users run a modified version of the Mastodon system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the Fediverse which is widely used today is often called "Mastodon", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Fediverse system, developed by different people. There really is a Mastodon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Mastodon is an implementation: the program in the system that allocates all the machine's resources away from other programs that you'd try to run. Mastodon is an essential part of an Fediverse, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a federated network. Mastodon is normally used in combination with other ActivityPub software: the whole system is basically Fediverse with Mastodon added, or Fediverse/Mastodon. All the so-called "Mastodon" servers are really instances of Fediverse/Mastodon.

@shibayashi it also happens in the current version. I just installed the beta as an easy way to confirm it's still happening there.

@shibayashi okay, that's weird. i just tried it on another machine too and same result. Could it be that it happens because of content in my feed?

@devilish @tuxcrafting @scarlett pretty much this. Plan 9 and Inferno did so much right, but we're only now getting the more cursed re-implementations of those ideas. E.g. WebAssembly.

@devilish @tuxcrafting @scarlett are there any still alive-ish apart from Inferno? All those MS research systems were also quite interesting.

If anyone is wondering where the #FSFE stands on the whole thing:"We call on the European Commission to promote the dissemination of Free Software filter technologies"Source: https://fsfe.org/news/2019/news-20190326-01.en.htmlThey really only stand for free as in free beer software, don't they?

RF is proper witchcraft. Choosing the right crystals and laying them out on the right spots on the board. And being very careful in how they interact with the whole system.
